How every part of the app works, from your first session to bankroll coaching. The same guide lives inside the app, where the virtual assistant can answer questions about it.
- Getting Started Create an account using Google Sign-In from the Auth screen.
- Sessions Start a session from the Home screen. Choose game type: Cash, Tournament, or Multi-day.
- Bankroll Your bankroll is the money you have set aside for poker. Set it up once from the Home screen: enter what the roll is worth right now, pick its currency, and from then on every session you finish updates the balance automatically.
- Hand Logging Open the Quick Hand Sheet during an active session with the 'LOG HAND' button on the session card (it stays available during a break too).
- AI Coach Access the AI Coach from the Coach tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Voice Input & Hand Image Voice input in the AI Coach: tap the microphone icon in chat to open a voice conversation with the coach (Gemini Live).
- History The History tab shows all your past sessions, hands, and analytics.
- Players The Players tab stores profiles for opponents (villains) you encounter regularly.
- Table Scout Table Scout lets you scout the players at your table before or during a session, so you know who you're up against and arrive prepared.
- Multi-Day Tournament A multi-day tournament spans several days of play, like big MTTs or Main Events.
- Scheduled Sessions Scheduled sessions let you book a future session in advance. Useful for planned tournaments or regular games.
- Mental Tools & Check-in The Mental Readiness Card appears on the Home screen before a session. It asks three quick questions, Sleep, Stress and Focus (Low / Medium / High), and shows a readiness score with advice for the session ahead. It is a quick self-check for the moment: it is not saved to your profile and is not sent to the coach.
- Coach Personalization The coach learns you over time: tilt patterns, preferred communication style, goals, and play patterns.
- Import from PBT PBT (Poker Bankroll Tracker) is a popular bankroll management app. OctoCoach supports importing your session history from it.
- Sharing & Replay Any hand you log can be shared as a public link via the share icon on the hand card.
- Settings Open Settings from the gear icon at the top of the Home screen (there is no Settings tab in the bottom bar).
- Subscription & Pro OctoCoach operates on two tiers: Free and Pro.
- Referrals The referral program lets you invite friends to OctoCoach and earn Pro subscription credit.
- Privacy, Legal & Account OctoCoach takes privacy seriously. All your personal data is stored encrypted in Firebase Firestore.
- Help: Manual & Virtual Assistant First help source: the written manual (/manual). What you're reading now, a comprehensive document covering every feature in the app.
- Hand Polls Hand Polls let you crowdsource opinions on a logged hand from friends - no signup needed for voters.
- Accessibility OctoCoach is committed to an accessible service for all users. The full accessibility statement is available via Settings → Accessibility Statement, from the marketing site footer, or directly at octocoach.app/legal/accessibility (reachable without signing in).
- Support, Contact & Privacy Contact addresses live in Settings → 'Support & Contact': support@octocoach.app for general support and billing, privacy@octocoach.app for privacy and data requests, contact@octocoach.app for general inquiries.
- Offline mode OctoCoach keeps working without signal: casino floors, basements, flights. After you have signed in once on a device, the app opens with no connection and shows your data from the last sync.
- Home game manager Run a friends' poker night in the app, free on every plan. On the Home screen tap the 'Home game' tile. The home games page shows a game in progress at the top ('Back to the game'), a '+ New game' button, and your past games with the date, the number of players and your own result. While a game is in progress the Home tile shows 'Open game' with the player count and jumps straight into it; Back from the game leads to the home games page. Playing and running the table the same night: during a live session or a tournament between days, a 'Home game running' strip with 'Manage' sits at the top of the Home screen, and with no game open, in every live session or tournament, a 'Manage the table' link opens a new game. Inside the game, a line under the status strip goes back 'To my game' while the session is live. Starting your session from the game: when you are marked as playing ('I'm playing too') and have no live session, a row under the status strip says 'Playing too? Your session is not open yet' with a 'Start session' button. It opens the same start-session sheet as the home screen, already filled from the game: cash, 'Home game' environment, game type, blinds, place, currency and your first buy-in; all that is left is energy and mood, then Start. If the game has no blinds typed but the chip value is set, the blinds are read from it: one chip is one small blind, so 200 for 400 chips (0.5 per chip) fills 0.5/1. Blinds or a place picked in that sheet that the game did not have yet are written to the game as well. The new session is linked to the game at once, the row turns into 'Linked to a live session' with 'To my game', and History shows 🏠 on the session row. From then on the game and the session are one record of your money: every buy-in added, edited or removed for you in the game is written to the session (first buy-in and rebuys), and a rebuy tapped on the session card on the home screen is recorded as your buy-in in the game. At the end: if you counted your stack in the game (or settled) before ending the session, the end-session sheet is already filled with that amount, marked 🏠, and you can change it; if you ended the session first, the amount you left with becomes your count in the game (a game counting chips at a rate worked out at the end is not converted, count by hand there). A settlement closed, or reopened and fixed, after the session ended updates the session's buy-ins, cash-out and result. An ended session linked afterwards via 'Link to a session' keeps its own numbers; only the place is shared with it. Editing amounts in the session editor in History does not change the game. Linking to a session: the session is more detailed and wins, so with a live session the game does not offer to save a result. Instead tap 'Link' in the line under the status strip, or leave 'Link to my live session' on when finishing. Link a session that already ended from the ⋯ menu, 'Link to a session', where you can also remove the link. The link never changes the session's result; it lets you move between them: 'To session' from the game, and 🏠 on the session row in History or 'Open the home game' in the opened session. A session saved from the game's result is linked to it too.
